CTO Staff Join Diplomatic Leadership Training

CTO Staff Participate in the PATH Diplomatic Leadership Training Programme

Staff members of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) participated in the PATH Diplomatic Leadership Training Programme from September 12-13, 2024, at Marlborough House, London, UK. This intensive two-day certificate programme, designed for mid-career and senior diplomats, focused on enhancing leadership in the 21st-century diplomatic landscape. 


The training focussed on three dominant forces shaping today's global reality climate change, geopolitics and technological innovation; Through diverse perspectives and deep analysis, participants explored the evolving nature of diplomacy and learned practical strategies to carve out, hold, and advance diplomatic action in increasingly complex situations. This enriching experience helped participants sharpen their understanding of contemporary challenges while gaining insights into bilateral and multilateral diplomatic processes. 


Facilitated by the Commonwealth Secretariat, the programme’s objectives were to enhance participants' ability to navigate modern diplomatic realities, strengthen negotiation positioning, and prepare for impactful leadership. Notable speakers included The Rt Hon Patricia Scotland KC, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth; The Rt Hon James Gordon Brown CH Hon FRSE, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom; and HE Ambassador Amna Baloch, Foreign Secretary of Pakistan, among other distinguished diplomats. 


The PATH Diplomatic Leadership Training Programme has equipped CTO staff with invaluable tools and knowledge to better understand and navigate the evolving technological landscape, ultimately contributing to the organisation's ongoing mission to support digital transformation and innovation across the Commonwealth.
