About AUSAFA
The need for AUSAFA was first identified in August 2007 when representatives from numerous African USAF agencies and regulatory authorities met in Nairobi, Kenya. The representatives agreed that a formal association would help their respective agencies work towards their common goal. The idea was further developed in Pataya, Thailand in March 2008 and at several CTO events around Africa. By August 2008, the consensus among USAF agencies and telecommunications stakeholders for the establishment of AUSAFA led to the forming of AUSAFA on the 26th of August 2008 in Lilongwe, Malawi where representatives of 12 Universal Service and Access Funds (USAFs) issued a Declaration, adopted the Constitution of AUSAFA and elected the office bearers.
As the secretariat for AUSAFA, the CTO coordinates the work of the Association and allows its members to leverage its institutional knowledge, its reach within the Global ICT sector and its relationships with numerous ICT stakeholders.
